IN GREATER MANCHESTER ZERO WASTE COMPETITION
Residents of Greater Manchester are being urged to take part in their local Zero Waste Competition to be in with the chance of winning prizes worth up to £150!
Environmental charity EMERGE is searching for individuals and groups to become Zero Waste Champions and reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill to as close to ZERO as possible…in one month! If you have a passion for the environment and recycling, then this is the challenge for you.
Households in Greater Manchester send 1.1 million tonnes of rubbish to landfill every year- that’s a massive half a tonne each! Yet with just a little extra thought and effort, Zero Waste Champion Lu Yang, from Didsbury, Manchester, has managed to reduce her household waste from 5kg to just 400g per week.
EMERGE will be running a Zero Waste Competition around Greater Manchester until April 2012. You could win prizes worth up to £150 for reducing your waste and encouraging your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to reduce, reuse and recycle.
If you, or anyone in your community group or business, would like to become a Zero Waste Champion and take part in the competition then contact EMERGE to arrange a Zero Waste Induction Session on your premises at a time convenient for you. These sessions are FREE for community groups and businesses until April 2012.
